Sue Ross Legal are working with an independent, leading law firm based in Sheffield for the recruitment of a Criminal Billing Clerk. Our client is renowned for working on serious, complex, and high-profile criminal cases which attract national media attention and represents clients all over the UK in Criminal Defence, Financial Crime, Motoring Offences, Medical Negligence, Personal Injury, and Immigration services.

This is a permanent, part time vacancy to work 20 hours per week on a flexible basis, with the ability to work hybrid.

The purpose of this role is to ensure the accurate preparation of bills receivable and safeguard the company’s income. As a billing clerk, you must be accurate and reliable in handling accounts and documents. Having a strong knowledge of numeracy, and a high degree of organizational ability are essential due to the great amount of financial information. Since you will be using technology to expedite your work, a degree of computer knowledge is required.

The successful candidate must have experience gained within a similar role; Understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules is essential, and you must be familiar with Xero (or similar) and Criminal work.

Duties:

• Daily banking functions including bank reconciliations.
• The processing of client and office accounting transactions including postings
• Preparation of cheques and processing of bank transfers
• Administration of the purchase ledger
• VAT returns.
• The administration of the purchase ledger
• The preparatory work for the annual accounts
